Warning Signs of Hypothermia

As we look forward to the start of the RS Aero frostbiting season in Bristol this weekend, I thought it would be helpful to alert all my fellow frostbite sailors to the warning signs of hypothermia. Thanks to the National Weather Service for this helpful graphic.

Wait.

On any given day – even in summer and when I am not sailing – I have been known to exhibit any or all of four of these symptoms. And when I am frostbiting of course I sometimes shiver, I am often confused about where the next mark is or how many laps we are doing, I will be sleepy and have stiff muscles after sailing every time, and I always have difficulty speaking to strangers.

Geeze. How will anyone know if I have hypothermia?
